How We Disclose Your Personal Information

With Your Consent

We may share your personal information when you direct us to or with your explicit consent.

Profiles, Listings, and Other Public Information

Your public listing on Lentil will always display certain essential details, such as your user ID or name associated with your account, your public profile photo, and, for vehicle owners, the city where your vehicle is located. Other visible information includes your listing description, calendar availability, and relevant transaction data to help the community assess your reliability and responsiveness. Additionally, reviews, feedback, and information about your cancellations may appear on your public listing page. For vehicle owners, the approximate geographic pick-up location of your vehicle may also be displayed.

Your public profile and listing pages can be indexed by search engines, meaning they may appear in search results outside the Lentil platform. This helps to make your listing more accessible but also means it could be viewed by a broader audience beyond the Lentil community.

Sharing Between Vehicle Owners and Renters

Lentil allows vehicle owners to share their cars with other users. If you agree to a booking through our platform, we may share necessary information with the other party to facilitate the transaction. For example, Lentil may share your mobile phone number to enable direct communication, your driver’s license information to verify its validity and for identity confirmation, or your photo to assist with identification. We may also provide the vehicle’s address and, if applicable, the proposed delivery location to the renter. If you use the Trip Photo feature, we may share the photos and captions you upload with the other party. Both parties may send messages to each other (e.g., to confirm pick-up or delivery details), and standard text or data charges may apply.

Service Providers

We may share your information with trusted vendors and service providers who support the operation of Lentil and our business activities. These providers may require access to your personal information to perform services on our behalf, such as web hosting, analytics, payment processing, email delivery, marketing, insurance claims management, vehicle recovery, roadside assistance, incident response, and customer support. In some cases, service providers may collect information directly from you on our behalf. For example, if a vehicle owner opts to use our photography program, we will share their contact details with the photographer assigned to capture images of the vehicle. These service providers will only use your personal information as directed or authorized by us.

Third-Party Platforms and Social Media Networks

If you have enabled features that connect Lentil’s Services to a third-party platform or social media network (such as by logging into Lentil using your third-party account or providing an API key to link your account), we may share your personal information with that platform or network. This may include the information necessary to facilitate the connection or any data you authorized us to share. We do not control how third parties use your personal information, and you should review their privacy policies for more details.

Professional Advisors

We may share your personal information with professional advisors, such as legal counsel, bankers, auditors, or insurers, when necessary in the course of receiving professional services.

Business Transfers

In the event of a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, or in the unlikely event of bankruptcy or dissolution, we may sell, transfer, or share some or all of Lentil’s business or assets, including your personal information, as part of the transaction.

Responding to Legal Requests, Preventing Harm, and Protecting Our Rights

We may disclose your personal information to courts, law enforcement agencies, government or tax authorities, or other third parties if we are required to do so by law or if we believe such disclosure is necessary to comply with legal obligations, respond to claims, or protect the security and rights of Lentil, our users, or others. This may include disclosures in response to legal requests related to criminal investigations, suspected illegal activity, or activities that could pose harm to you, others, or Lentil.

We may also disclose your personal information as described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise disclosed to you at the time of collection.

You have several options to limit the use of your personal information for interest-based advertising:

Cookie Preferences: You can modify your cookie preferences for Lentil’s website at any time by clicking on the cookie preferences link in the footer of our website.

Blocking Cookies in Your Browser: Most web browsers allow you to remove or reject cookies, including those used for interest-based advertising. You can do this by adjusting your browser settings. Many browsers accept cookies by default, so you may need to manually update your settings to block them. For more information about cookies, including how to view and manage cookies on your device, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

Blocking Advertising ID Use in Mobile Settings: Your mobile device may allow you to limit the use of the advertising ID associated with your device (e.g., Apple’s ID for Advertising or Google’s Advertising ID) for interest-based advertising. Check your device’s privacy settings to manage this option.

Using Privacy Plug-ins or Browsers: You can block cookies and trackers used for interest-based ads by using browsers with built-in privacy features (such as Brave) or by installing browser plug-ins like Privacy Badger, Ghostery, or uBlock Origin, and configuring them to block third-party cookies and trackers.

Advertising industry opt-out tools. You can also use these opt-out options to limit use of your information for interest-based advertising by participating companies (but note we may work with companies that do not participate in these programs):

Choosing Not to Share Your Personal Information

In cases where we are required by law to collect your personal information, or where your personal information is necessary to provide the Services, if you choose not to provide the requested information (or if you request its deletion later), we may be unable to provide you with certain aspects of the Services. This could affect your ability to fully access or use the platform.

Third-Party Platforms and Social Media Networks

If you choose to connect Lentil’s Services to a third-party platform or social media network (e.g., using the third-party’s authentication service to log into your Lentil account), you may have control over certain settings through that third-party platform. If you decide to withdraw Lentil’s access to specific information from the third-party platform, this will not affect any information we have already received from that platform prior to your withdrawal of consent.

Security

We use a range of technical, physical, and organizational measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, destruction, or alteration while it is under our control. While we strive to safeguard your data, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your personal information.

Other Important Information

Cross-Border Transfer

Lentil operates from the United States, but your personal information may be used, stored, and processed in other countries where we or our service providers maintain facilities. These locations may have data protection rules that differ from, and may be less protective than, those of your state, province, or country of residence. As a result, your personal information may be subject to access requests from governments, courts, regulatory agencies, or law enforcement in these jurisdictions in accordance with their laws.

Sensitive Information

We kindly ask that you do not send or disclose any sensitive personal information (e.g., Social Security numbers, social insurance numbers, passport information, racial or ethnic origin, or health data) to us through the Services unless we specifically request it.

Minors

The Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor under 18 has provided us with personal information, their parent or guardian can contact us to request its deletion.

Third-Party Privacy Practices

This Privacy Policy applies only to the use and disclosure of personal information collected by Lentil. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties, including those of websites or services linked to through our platform. The inclusion of any third-party link does not imply our endorsement of that site or service. If you interact with a third-party website or disclose your information to others, their privacy policies will apply. Some areas of the Services may use Google Maps/Places services, including the Google Places API, and Lentil uses reCAPTCHA Enterprise to prevent spam and abuse. Your use of the Services is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.

Translations

If we provide a version of this Privacy Policy in a language other than English, and there is any discrepancy in wording between that version and the English version, the English version will take precedence.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Please refer to the “Last revised” date at the top of this page to see when the policy was last updated. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will become effective once we post the revised version on our Services or as otherwise noted. By continuing to use the Services after these changes take effect, you agree to the updated Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to the changes, you can contact us to close your account.
